Reflections and Learning Forward - That's a Wrap!
Kevin's Ramapo Blog
This space is for collaborators who will be working in RL and/or SL on various aspects of the Digital Storytelling Project that is being led by
at Suffern Middle School from March 25th - 28th. Thanks for helping out! This is a fluid space for everyone to contribute to, so, feel free!
This all came about serendipitously after an introduction or two via email. Jen Ragan-Fore introduced me to Bernajean. She wanted to know about SL. I figured she'd want to know what was happening in Suffern, so I introduced her to Peggy. The rest is history.
What we know so far: Bernajean will be flying into Newark airport on Monday, 3/24. KJ will pick her up and drive to Peggy's. We'll all be together from then until Saturday, when Bernajean flies home.
What happens in between ... is up to us!

a note from Peggy---
Hi Everyone -
PLEASE USE THE LINKS ON THE SIDEBAR NAVIGATION TO READ OF THE VISION COMPLETE THE WHO'S WHO, AND LIST ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AT THIS POINT TO BEGIN DISCUSSION.
NEXT---Allow me to tell you a bit about Kevin Jarrett (AKA KJ Hax in Second Life and Digital Mincemeat on Ramapo Islands.) Keving first approached my about visiting Ramapo last year and spent a few days inthe library with Theresa Ivey and me when her classes were conducting literature investigations ( -he genre was science fiction!) Kevin watched me facilitate the first classes with Theresa and by the afternoon was teaching the classes! He is just that kind of educator- as a matter of fact he is receiving Teacher of the Year for his district tonight! Rather then me babbling on about him allow me to direct you to his website where you can read of his experiences with Second Life education and glean from it the kind of teacher he is! Suffice to say that he has done extensive research on Education in Virtual Worlds (Kindergarten - Higher Ed) and he is considered to be one of the foremost authorities on this emerging field. His website is:
Secondly, We are very lucky to have Marianne Malstrom joining us from the
Elizabeth Morrow School.
Marianne (Knowclue Kidd in SL) is the ITF at her school and also was inspired to visit Suffern MS after reading about Ramapo Islands. She visited last June for a day and brought along the Library Media Specialist from her building (yes - our very own Eleanor Schuster!) the fact that she has swallowed the "bitter pill" of losing Eleanor to Ramapo and is STILL volunteering to come and support this project with us speaks volumes about her! She has
developed a passion for the art of Machinima
(movie making in Second Life or other virtual worlds) and is now ready to share her skills with our students and teachers. Marianne will be working with us in person as well as virtually and I can promise she will bring more than technological skills to the table!
